Key Responsibilities:

Specialization in Materials: With your expertise, you will identify and evaluate materials suitable for application in the lunar habitat, emphasizing those integral to maintaining a closed-loop system in lunar habitat construction and operations. You can specialize particularly in lightweight materials, in situ resource utilization, and innovative materials, as well as in radiation protection and vacuum environments.

Studying and Characterizing Materials: Through comprehensive study and research, you will ensure the compatibility of materials with the unique challenges of space exploration. For a viable lunar habitat, you will need to identify materials, perform material study, and integrate them into structures.

Close Collaboration: With your strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and assess materials for space exploration, you will be providing information to the other engineers and their respective subsystems within your department, and the architecture department. By providing your team members with critical material information, you will enable them to make informed decisions concerning the viable materials for their respective subsystems and designs.

Meeting Attendance: Attend weekly department meetings to discuss progress, concepts, challenges, opportunities for improvement, and innovations within the engineering team to ensure a final integrated design.
